MW4 Season 1 is live as of Nov. 6: new maps, DMZ's X01, Hajin in Warzone, the 1,100 COD Point Battle Pass, and who loses Warzone access.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 went live at midnight ET on Friday, Nov. 6, 2026 (9 p.m. PT on Nov. 5) on all platforms, according to the official Call of Duty blog. The update adds new multiplayer maps, a new DMZ area called X01, and a full merge of Call of Duty: Warzone with Modern Warfare 4. As of Nov. 6, the season content is a free update for anyone who owns the game, and the Premium Battle Pass costs 1,100 COD Points.
What is in Modern Warfare 4 Season 1?
Season 1 brings three new multiplayer maps at launch, according to Call of Duty's Oct. 28 announcement: Backstab, Canyon and a reimagined Shoot House. Ministry, Overflow and more unannounced maps follow in the mid-season update. The Shipment map was added in the lead-up to the season, and a Kill Block mode built around the Crash map is also part of the package.
DMZ gets the X01 Black Site, a new location with new enemies and Orders. Two new weapons, the CSG-35 SMG and the Cronen Osprey assault rifle, arrive at launch. The JAK 12 shotgun and the ZLR Talonhawk melee weapon come later in the season. Limited-time events include a Wager Match Event, weapon camo events and a Squad Up Event.
What changes in Warzone, and who loses access?
Warzone is now fully integrated with Modern Warfare 4, per Call of Duty's Nov. 2 Warzone guide. The new Hajin battle royale map is set on the Korean Peninsula and has 13 major points of interest. A smaller Resurgence map called Zodiac arrives with it. Verdansk and Rebirth Island return later in the season.
Progression resets in a way you should know about before you jump in. A player level reset lets you level up again and optionally Prestige across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone. Operators, skins and Blueprints from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 carry into Warzone. Older weapons sit in a Legacy tab, cannot be edited in Gunsmith, and a five-attachment version of each base weapon is provided.
Two platform changes matter most for U.S. players. Warzone launches on Nintendo Switch 2 with Season 1. And starting with this season, Warzone is no longer playable on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Call of Duty says progression carries over to a supported platform if you log in with the same linked Activision account.
How much does the Season 1 Battle Pass cost?
The Season 1 Battle Pass is a 100-tier track, and it costs 1,100 COD Points on its own, according to the Call of Duty blog post from Nov. 5. The Battle Pass Bundle is 2,400 COD Points and adds 20 Tier Skip Tokens. BlackCell includes the Battle Pass and the tokens, plus the XERO Operator and extra challenges. Owners of the Modern Warfare 4 Vault Edition get access to all BlackCell and Battle Pass content as long as they log in during Season 1.
The new catch-up system is the detail worth noticing. If you fall behind, the game automatically moves you up to the reward matching the current day of the season, up to day 50, so a paid pass guarantees 50-plus rewards. That guarantee requires the paid pass. Call of Duty does not list a dollar price for COD Points in these posts, so check the in-game store for the current conversion before you buy.
What should you do before you play?
- Update first. Download the Season 1 update for each Call of Duty title you play before you queue up.
- Check your platform. If you are on PS4 or Xbox One, Warzone is no longer playable, and your linked Activision account is how progress moves to a newer console or PC.
- Do not pay yet if you are unsure. Maps, modes and DMZ's X01 location need no extra purchase.
- Look at the free weapons. The Battle Pass includes two new free weapons, according to Call of Duty.
Our take
This is opinion. The catch-up system is the most player-friendly thing in this season, because it makes a late purchase less risky. The Warzone level reset and the loss of PS4 and Xbox One support will annoy plenty of people, though, and it is fair to ask whether a free-to-play game should cut off older consoles in the same week it resets everyone's progress. Server stability and balance reports from the first weekend will say more about the season than the roadmap does.
We have not played Season 1 ourselves, so everything above comes from Call of Duty's own announcements.
