PS Plus Premium members can play 007 First Light free for one hour, and IGN says it is 40% off, about $42. See who gets the trial and what to check.

As of Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, PlayStation Plus Premium members can play the first hour of 007 First Light for free, and IGN reports that buying the game afterward costs 40 percent less, about $42. IGN published the news on Tuesday, Nov. 3, as PlayStation's Black Friday sale opened. If you have been on the fence about the new James Bond game, this is the cheapest way to find out before you pay.

How do you get the 007 First Light free trial?

You need a PlayStation 5 and a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription. IGN says PlayStation Plus Premium or Deluxe members can try a one-hour trial, and Premium is the top tier for most U.S. subscribers. The Daily Game News adds a warning: a social media post announced the trial as open to "all PlayStation Plus members," but game trials are a Premium perk, so Essential and Extra subscribers will not see it. We could not confirm the exact trial listing in the PlayStation Store ourselves, so look for it on the game's store page.

The trial starts at the beginning of the campaign. IGN says it covers the prologue and some of Bond's training sections, and The Daily Game News names those missions as Against the Odds and The Needle's Eye. That site also reports that progress carries over if you buy the full game on PS5.

How much is 007 First Light on sale?

IGN says the game is 40 percent off, which it puts at roughly $42. PlayStation's own U.S. store page lists the game at $79.99 for its May 27, 2026 release and "for at least 30 days afterward," so the current list price and the final sale price are worth checking in your cart. The math does not line up perfectly: 40 percent off $79.99 would be about $48, not $42, so IGN's figure likely assumes a lower base price. We could not resolve that from the pages we read.

A few other points about the sale itself, from IGN's Black Friday coverage and PlayStation's announcement:

  • PlayStation's Black Friday sale started at midnight on Nov. 4 and runs through Nov. 30, a longer window than last year.
  • PlayStation promises discounts of up to 75 percent on thousands of PS5, PS4 and PS VR2 games, expansions and DLC.
  • Some deals end Nov. 20 and are replaced by new offers, so a price you see today may not last the month.
  • The Daily Game News reports the Deluxe Edition is discounted in the same promotion, with no exact price announced. A UK outlet, Metro, reported the Deluxe Edition at 50 percent off in pounds, which is not a U.S. price.

Is 007 First Light worth it?

IGN gave the game 9 out of 10 and called it a smart yet faithful evolution of the Bond formula, quoting its own review's praise for a patiently paced action-stealth approach that leans on Bond's gadgets and guns without turning into parody. That score is IGN's, not ours; Savvy VibeZ has not reviewed the game.

IGN also says the game had sold over 4 million copies as of August 2026, that IO Interactive has shipped free post-launch updates, and that a new story DLC is planned before the end of the year. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is coming in March, according to the same report. PlayStation's page describes it as a standalone origin story with a young Bond in MI6's training program.

What is confirmed and what is not?

  • Reported by IGN: the one-hour trial, the 40 percent discount, about $42, the 9 out of 10 review, the Switch 2 port in March.
  • Disputed: which PlayStation Plus tiers get the trial. IGN says Premium or Deluxe; The Daily Game News says Premium only.
  • Not confirmed: the exact U.S. sale price on the store today and how long it lasts.

Our take

An hour is long enough to judge whether the controls and the stealth-versus-shooting mix work for you, and the carry-over progress means a purchase does not cost you the time. If you like it, waiting for the Black Friday sale is cheaper than buying right away, and the sale window is long enough that you do not need to rush on day one. If the trial is not there for you, the likely reason is the tier, not a bug. Check your plan before searching the store.
