LEGO Black Friday is Nov. 27. IGN expects 30% to 50% off on retiring sets, and the $449.99 LEGO Godzilla set launches the same day. Here's what to expect.
LEGO fans can expect the biggest discounts of the year starting on Black Friday, Nov. 27, 2026, according to IGN's LEGO Black Friday guide, updated Nov. 8. The same day, LEGO releases its new Black Friday exclusive, the $449.99 LEGO Ideas Godzilla set, per LEGO's own announcement. Here is what IGN says to watch for, what LEGO has confirmed, and where the guesses start.
What LEGO deals should you expect on Black Friday 2026?
IGN's LEGO editor, Chris Reed, says normal retailer sales usually run about 20% off at stores like Amazon, Target, Best Buy and the LEGO Store. A good Black Friday deal, in his view, is 30%, 40% or even 50% off, and he expects those once the real sales begin. That is IGN's expectation based on past years, not a promise from any retailer.
The sets most likely to drop are the ones LEGO is retiring. IGN says LEGO's "retiring soon" page lists more than 200 sets, and retailers tend to clear them to make room for new releases.
When does the LEGO Store Black Friday sale start?
IGN says the official LEGO Store usually runs a short sale. Last year's started on Black Friday and ran four days, through Cyber Monday. If the pattern holds, that would mean Nov. 27 to Nov. 30, but LEGO has not announced the 2026 sale dates in anything we read. Amazon and Walmart sales may start at different times, IGN notes, so watch their schedules.
The week before, LEGO traditionally runs an Insiders Weekend, a sale for members of its free LEGO Insiders program. IGN says it brings select discounts, bonus loyalty points and exclusive gifts with purchase. IGN does not give dates for this year's, and neither do we.
What is the LEGO Ideas Godzilla set?
LEGO announced it as the first-ever LEGO set featuring Godzilla from Legendary's Monsterverse. The key facts from LEGO's own pages:
- Price: $449.99 in the U.S. (LEGO also lists £349.99 and €399.99).
- Pieces: 5,363, which LEGO calls the largest LEGO Ideas model ever launched.
- Size: 27.5 inches (70 cm) tall when posed with the Heat Ray, 10.5 inches wide and 15.5 inches long.
- Age: 18+.
- On sale: Nov. 27, 2026 at LEGO.com and LEGO Stores. IGN says it goes on sale at 12:01 a.m. that day.
- Gift with purchase: the LEGO Ideas Godzilla Logo and Footprint set while supplies last, Nov. 27 through Nov. 30.
The model has a posable head, arms, wrists and fingers, and a tail you can build leaning left or right. You can swap the tongue for a Heat Ray element for a roaring pose. It started as a fan idea by Matthew Esposito, which reached 10,000 votes on the LEGO Ideas platform, per LEGO.
Is the Godzilla set likely to be discounted?
Almost certainly not on day one. It is a new release, and IGN's guide says new Black Friday sets are priced as statement pieces. Our reading of IGN's logic is that discounts go to retiring sets, not new ones. That is our inference, not a LEGO statement.
Our take
This is analysis, not reporting. If you already know which LEGO set you want, check whether it is on the "retiring soon" list. That is where the 30% to 50% deals are most likely. If you are buying Godzilla, $449.99 is a lot, and the free gift only runs four days. It is a good fit for a big Godzilla fan, and a hard sell for anyone else.
What we do not know: the exact start time of each retailer's sale, which sets will hit 50% off, and whether the LEGO Store will run the same four-day window as last year. We did not check live prices today. Confirm the price and the deal terms at checkout before you buy.
