Arby's is bringing back its Deep Fried Turkey Gobbler and Turkey Club nationwide for a limited time, with stuffing and cranberry on a toasted sub bun.

Arby's is bringing back its Deep Fried Turkey lineup for a limited time, according to QSR Web, which reported the news on Oct. 27. Two sandwiches are on the menu, both built on a quarter pound of thick-sliced, marinated deep-fried turkey, and they are available at participating locations nationwide while supplies last.

What's on the menu

The star is the Deep Fried Turkey Gobbler. QSR Web says it comes on a toasted sub bun with crispy onions, Swiss cheese, stuffing, cranberry spread and mayonnaise. In other words, a Thanksgiving leftovers sandwich you don't have to assemble yourself.

The other option is the Deep Fried Turkey Club, which pairs the same turkey with crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce and mayonnaise. It is the more familiar of the two and the safer order for anyone who sees stuffing on a sandwich and hesitates.

How to order, and what we don't know

Per QSR Web, you can order in the restaurant, at the drive-thru, online or through the Arby's app. The food site Sporked, which covered the launch the same day, described the Gobbler as the real showstopper and said it plans its own review. Neither report we read lists a price, and prices at chain restaurants vary by location, so check the app before you go.

The sources also don't say how long the lineup will last beyond "while supplies last." That phrase matters. A limited-time sandwich tied to a holiday can disappear from individual stores well before the holiday arrives.

Our take

This is an opinion, not reporting: the Gobbler is the right kind of fast-food gimmick. Stuffing and cranberry are the two things people actually fight over at Thanksgiving, and putting them on a hot sub is a smarter pitch than another bacon variation. The risk is execution. Stuffing on a sandwich can turn dry fast, and we have not tasted either one, so we can't tell you whether it works.

If you want to try it, going earlier in the run is the safer bet than waiting for the week of the holiday.
