Stephen Curry scored 41 as Golden State beat Orlando 126-119 in overtime on Nov. 7. Here are the records, the box score and the Warriors' next three games.
Stephen Curry scored 41 points on Saturday night, Nov. 7, and the Golden State Warriors beat the Orlando Magic 126-119 in overtime at Chase Center for their seventh straight win. As of Nov. 8, 2026, Golden State is 7-3 after opening the season 0-3, according to an AP game story carried by ESPN.
The game was closer than the final score. Here is what happened, which numbers stand out, and when the Warriors play next.
How did Curry score 41 against the Magic?
Curry shot 13 of 19 from the field, 5 of 10 from three and a perfect 10 of 10 at the free-throw line, per the ESPN box score. He added six rebounds and six assists in 36 minutes. AP reported that he put Golden State ahead with a three-point play with 1:38 left in overtime, then added a layup in the final minute.
Orlando had its chances. The Warriors led 57-41 at halftime, but the Magic outscored them 37-20 in the third quarter and went into the fourth up 78-77. Curry made a go-ahead layup with 25.2 seconds left in regulation, and Jamal Cain's putback with 2 seconds left, on Orlando's third try, forced overtime. In the extra period, AP said Wendell Carter Jr. missed two free throws with 1:15 left that would have tied it.
Franz Wagner led Orlando with 30 points and 11 assists. Tristan da Silva and Carter each had 19, and Cain finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds off the bench.
What records did Curry reach?
Two milestones came out of the AP story. It was Curry's 16th game of 40-plus points after turning 35, which AP says is the most in NBA history. LeBron James has 15, and Michael Jordan had 12. Curry also became the seventh player with 26,000 career points, 5,000 rebounds and 6,000 assists, according to ELIAS, the league's stats partner.
It was his second 40-point game of the season. AP also noted the Warriors' seven-game run is their longest since a seven-game streak from March 3 to 15, 2025.
Who else played a big part for Golden State?
Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg scored 23 points with eight rebounds and hit a key three in overtime. Brandin Podziemski had 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting, Georges Niang scored 11 and Draymond Green had a season-high 13 assists, per AP and the box score. Green scored only two points but finished plus-11 on the floor, matching Curry, so the scoring column undersells him.
It was not all clean. Lendeborg committed six turnovers, and Niang and Carter picked up double technical fouls in the second quarter after a scuffle under the basket. AP said security guards kept Green from getting involved, a week after his ejection against Phoenix.
When do the Warriors play next?
Here the sources do not line up. AP's recap says Golden State hosts Charlotte on Monday night. ESPN's schedule, however, shows the New Orleans Pelicans visiting Chase Center on Monday, Nov. 9, at 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT) on NBA TV, and the Hornets are listed at home against Cleveland that night. We are going with the schedule, but check the NBA app before you plan around it.
After that, the Warriors play at Houston on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, then at San Antonio on Friday, Nov. 13, at 9:30 p.m. ET on Prime Video, according to ESPN's schedule. The Magic are next at Sacramento on Tuesday, per AP.
Our take
Seven wins in a row after an 0-3 start is a real turnaround, but the standings tell a more careful story. The Lakers are 8-2 and lead the Pacific Division, with Golden State a game back, per ESPN. Orlando is 2-7, so this was a win over a struggling team that the Warriors needed overtime to get.
The efficiency is what we would watch. Curry went 10 for 10 at the line and still needed Lendeborg and Green to carry stretches. If he keeps shooting like this, Golden State can survive nights like Saturday. If he does not, the margin looks thin.
