A quick tour of this week's creator-economy headlines, from game shows to talent deals.

Tubefilter's weekly "Have you heard?" column collects the news that does not warrant a full article. Here are the items we found most interesting this week, in our own words.

Pop culture

  • Ken Jennings is hosting a second YouTube-creator edition of Jeopardy!. Michelle Khare, Mythical Josh and Smosh's Angela Giarratana compete for charity in internet-themed trivia.
  • iShowSpeed is promoting The Eyes of Ghana, a documentary about Ghanaian filmmaker Chris Hesse's effort to preserve footage of African independence movements. It gets a one-day theatrical release, backed by Speed and the Obamas' media company.

Creator commotion

  • Pinkfong, the company behind the most-watched video on YouTube, released Halloween mash-ups pairing Baby Shark with Dr. Seuss characters including the Cat in the Hat and the Lorax.
  • Lilly Singh is back with her first new sketch in five years, a satire of the life of a professional creator.
  • Grace Helbig had surgery to remove two brain tumors and is recovering, postponing the remaining dates of her tour with Mamrie Hart.

The business

  • UK company Electrify, which works with creators like Veritasium, made two senior hires to lead its editorial brand and strategy.
  • Billion Dollar Boy acquired Creator Authority, a LinkedIn marketing partner that has run B2B campaigns for Amazon, Adobe and IBM.
  • YouTube restricted 39 more channels linked to Russian propaganda.

The full column has more, including agency signings and a few stranger corners of the internet. It is a handy weekly habit if you want to keep up with the creator economy.
