The UK electronic duo return with 18 tracks, a trio of short films and a run of live dates.

UK electronic duo Bicep have announced a new album, SLUG, due on January 29, 2027 on Ninja Tune. It follows their CHROMA series and runs to 18 songs, many with guest vocalists.

What we know

  • Title idea: according to Stereogum, the name plays on the difference between land slugs and sea slugs, which the group sees as a metaphor for looking past first impressions.
  • New singles: "Gas" (with Lauren Duffus and SOARR), "Ultra" (with Eartheater and Saskia) and "Equarium" (with Kehina). Each comes with a three-part short film by director Alex Takács, built around pigeon breeding and racing.
  • Already out: "Air", "Lemonder" and "Viper", released last month.
  • Collaborators across the record: SOARR, Eartheater, Kehina, Saskia, George Riley, KUČKA, Sassy 009 and Rowena Fysx, plus two tracks credited to Bicep and Clark.

On the road

Announced dates include Sydney (October 31), Melbourne (November 1 and 2) and London's Royal Albert Hall (November 26), then New York's Knockdown Center (March 20, 2027), Bogotá's Estéreo Picnic (March 21), Snowbombing in Austria (April 7), Barcelona's Primavera Festival (June 4) and a London show at the Old Royal Naval College (July 31). Check each venue's official page for tickets.

For a project built around contrasts, a pigeon-racing film series and a slug-inspired title is a typically playful framing. Whether the album delivers on it, we will know in January.
