## Key takeaways

- Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis launches Feb. 12, 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
- A new trailer shown for the original game's 30th anniversary covers four locations: Peru, Greece, Egypt and Atlantis.
- The remake adds a Focus meter, skill trees and crafting, so it isn't a one-to-one copy of the 1996 game, according to Polygon.

Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog have shown a new trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, the remake of the 1996 original, timed to the series' 30th anniversary. The game arrives Feb. 12, 2027, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Nintendo Switch 2, according to Polygon, which names Amazon Game Studios as publisher.

## What the new footage shows

Polygon reports the clip debuted this weekend at the TR30 Derby and MCM London, marking 30 years since the first game reached the Sega Saturn. It walks through the game's four main locations, Peru, Greece, Egypt and Atlantis, and revisits famous moments: the giant Atlas puzzle, the Atlantean monsters, and the unlucky trip that follows touching King Midas' statue.

The remake isn't a straight copy, Polygon notes. It adds modern systems, including a Focus meter, skill trees and crafting. Game director Raul Siquera explained earlier this year, per Polygon, that taking damage, dealing damage and dodging all fill the meter, which then lets players slow time around them to pull off more of Lara's classic acrobatics.

The studio's own announcement says the game runs on Unreal Engine 5 and that the Lost Valley puzzles in Peru were redesigned from scratch, with spaces that connect into larger environments and the cog puzzle returning in reimagined form.

## Editions and pre-orders

There are three editions: Standard, Deluxe and Collector's. Lara wears her classic shorts and tank top by default, Polygon says, and the Survivor trilogy outfit comes as a pre-order bonus. The Deluxe and Collector's editions include 48-hour early access.

When pre-orders opened on June 2, the studio said digital copies were available on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store and Steam, with Switch 2 pre-orders to follow later. We haven't confirmed prices from either source, so check the store listings before you buy.

## What's still open

Neither source says how the remake's difficulty or length compares with the original, and a trailer only shows what the studio chose to show. Crystal Dynamics also has Tomb Raider: Catalyst planned for 2027, set in Northern India, so Lara fans have a busy year ahead.

## Our take

This is opinion. Remakes live or die on what they keep, and showing the Atlas puzzle and the Midas statue first is a smart signal that the studio knows which memories matter. The Focus meter is the part to watch. If it makes the old acrobatics easier to pull off without turning every fight into a slow-motion show, it could help. If it feels like a gimmick, it'll be the first thing people complain about.
