Netflix confirmed on Friday, Nov. 6, that a live-action Stranger Things spinoff is officially happening. It is called *Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure*, it is a prequel set in the 1950s, and it is due to premiere in 2028, according to Netflix's own announcement and reports from Variety, Deadline and The Verge. It shows an abandoned bike near a restricted area at night, with town lights in the distance and a disturbance in the sky that Deadline says resembles a wormhole forming. The song in the teaser is "Sh-Boom" by The Chords, which Deadline points out also plays in Season 5 during a scene tied to the young Henry Creel.

The plot is otherwise being kept quiet. Matt and Ross Duffer said in the announcement that the show is "Stranger Things, but also thrillingly fresh, with a new setting, new heroes and villains." They then added that they are not allowed to say more and that casting comes next. No actors have been announced.

The animated *Tales From '85* is still waiting on a renewal decision, according to Deadline, which makes this the first live-action expansion since the finale.

What we would watch is the cast. A story set in 1955 cannot lean on Eleven, Hopper or the Hawkins kids, so the first names Netflix announces will tell us how much of the old show's pull is meant to carry over. Until then, 2028 is the only date that counts.
