- Season 2 is confirmed for spring 2027 with six episodes; Deadline says April is likely.
- The reported movie is a Christmas special aimed at a December 2027 theatrical release, centered on Scott and Kip, not Shane and Ilya.
- Season 1 streams on HBO Max in the U.S. and is in a limited theatrical run at Regal, AMC and Cinemark, according to Deadline.

As of Nov. 8, 2026, *Heated Rivalry* is reportedly filming Season 2 and Season 3 back to back, with a standalone holiday movie to follow. Deadline reported the news on Nov. 7, citing sources. Neither the series' Canadian home, Crave, nor HBO Max, where it streams in the U.S., has confirmed any of it.

That gap matters, so this page keeps what is confirmed and what is only reported in separate piles.

## Is Heated Rivalry getting a Season 3 and a movie?

Maybe, and probably, but not officially. According to Deadline, two six-episode seasons are being shot one after the other and should wrap at the end of November or in early December. A movie would then shoot in December, described to Deadline as a Christmas special or holiday-themed episode, with a theatrical release planned for next December.

The reported movie would not star Shane and Ilya, played by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie. Deadline's sources say it centers on the other Season 1 couple, Scott and Kip, played by François Arnaud and Robbie G.K., with other characters from the show. Deadline also noted that author Rachel Reid wrote a short story, titled "Merry Christmas, Scott and Kip", about the pair's first Christmas together. Deadline did not say the film is based on it, so that link is our inference, not a report.

A Crave rep told Deadline there were "no projects to confirm." Deadline also said neither creator Jacob Tierney nor Crave has acknowledged a Season 3 pickup.

## What is confirmed about Season 2?

Season 2 is confirmed for spring 2027, and Deadline says an April launch is likely. Tierney told Andy Cohen on SiriusXM last month that, like Season 1, it will have six episodes. He also said filming would be done by the end of the year, without saying what the shoot covers.

That interview helps explain how the back-to-back idea took off. A leaked August Cameo video from Dylan Walsh, who plays Shane's father, had him saying, "I think we're doing 12 [episodes] this time." Fans read that as a supersized Season 2. Tierney's six-episode answer ended that reading. Two six-episode seasons shot together would still add up to twelve, which is a neat fit, but a fit is not confirmation.

On the story side, Deadline says Season 2 is expected to continue Shane and Ilya through Reid's book *The Long Game* and introduce Harris Drover and Troy Barrett, played by Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie.

## Where can you watch Heated Rivalry in the U.S. right now?

Season 1 streams on HBO Max in the U.S. It premiered Nov. 28, 2025. There is also a second way to see it. According to Deadline, paired Season 1 episodes are playing in theaters at Regal, AMC and Cinemark locations. Deadline said 880 theaters had reported $420,000 for Friday, which pointed to roughly a $1.3 million opening weekend. Those are early, reported numbers and could change once final box office comes in.

Showtimes and ticket prices vary by theater, and we did not find a single national price. Check your local Regal, AMC or Cinemark listing.

## What should fans take from this?

Our take: the Season 2 date is the only thing you can plan around. Spring 2027 is official. Season 3 and the movie are a detailed trade report, but it rests on unnamed sources, and the network said nothing.

The theatrical run is the interesting part. A streaming-first show filling cinemas for a month is unusual, and a December 2027 theatrical film would be a bigger bet than any single season. It would also be a test of whether the audience follows the side couple without the leads. That is a real question, and nobody has the answer yet.

We will update this story if Crave or HBO Max confirms anything.
