## Key takeaways

- A PlayStation Store tracker lists Grand Theft Auto VI at 210 GB on PS5, according to Polygon and GamesRadar+. Rockstar has not confirmed the figure.
- That is roughly double the 100 GB listed for Grand Theft Auto V on PS5.
- Preloading opens Nov. 12 and the game launches Nov. 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
- No Xbox size has been reported, and it's unclear whether the Ultimate Edition is larger.

Grand Theft Auto VI will reportedly need 210 GB of storage on PlayStation 5, according to data posted Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, by the PlayStation Game Size account. Polygon and GamesRadar+ both reported the figure on Tuesday afternoon, and neither says Rockstar Games has confirmed it. With preloads opening Nov. 12, PS5 owners may want to check their free space now.

## What we know about the 210 GB figure

Polygon reports that the number appears to apply to the standard PS5 release. It is unclear whether the pricier Ultimate Edition would take up more room. GamesRadar+ describes the PlayStation Game Size account as reasonably reliable for upcoming PlayStation titles, but it also calls the number unconfirmed.

The launch schedule is not in question. Preloading starts Nov. 12, a week before Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X on Nov. 19.

## How it compares with older games

The same tracker lists Grand Theft Auto V at 95 GB on PS4 and 100 GB on PS5, per Polygon. Steam's listing for the PC version, Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced, asks for 105 GB. GamesRadar+ adds that Red Dead Redemption 2 takes 150 GB on PC.

So the new game is roughly twice the size of its predecessor. It is still smaller than the Xbox version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which Polygon says needs more than 300 GB.

## What is not confirmed yet

Rockstar has not published a size. Download and install sizes can differ, according to GamesRadar+, and PS5 and Xbox builds can vary slightly. There is no Xbox Series X number yet. Day-one patches could also push the final total higher.

## Why it matters for U.S. readers

Modern AAA games already eat storage fast, and the PS5's system software takes a share of the drive before you install anything. A 210 GB game is a big bite out of a console with a standard internal drive. Anyone who keeps a few other large games installed will probably have to delete something.

**Our take:** the figure is plausible given the jump from the last game, but treat it as a planning number rather than a spec sheet. If you want to be ready for the Nov. 12 preload, clear 250 GB or so. That leaves a cushion if a patch lands on top of the base download. We'd also wait for Rockstar or Sony to confirm before anyone buys a bigger drive over this.
