## Key takeaways

- Epic says the Fortnite Pirate Shop Access token drops at 1 in 137,500 in a normal match, per IGN's Nov. 8 report on Epic's X post.
- The token makes Item Shop items free for 14 days, according to IGN. Treasure Hours boost its odds 1.5 times.
- Other odds: Weekly Gold Outfit 1 in 1,562,500; Gizmo 1 in 127; Weekly Loading Screen 1 in 272.
- Next Captain Days are Nov. 8, 12, 15 and 22; the Chapter 7 end event is Saturday, Dec. 5, per Epic.

Epic Games has published the odds for Fortnite's Pirate Shop Access token, and they are steep: 1 in 137,500 in a normal match, according to IGN's Nov. 8 report on a post from Epic's Fortnite Service account on X. As of Nov. 8, 2026, that is the number players have been demanding for a week, after the Treasure Hunters season launched Nov. 1 with the token and no stated odds.

## What is the Fortnite Pirate Shop Access token?

It is an ultra-rare chest drop in Battle Royale. IGN says it opens the Pirate Shop and makes nearly everything in the Item Shop free for 14 days. That is why players have been opening chests nonstop. Epic's own season preview describes the Treasure Hunters hunt as a search for mysterious loot, but the token's rarity was not spelled out until now.

## What are the Fortnite Treasure Hunters drop rates?

These are the normal-match odds Epic posted, as listed by IGN:

- **Weekly Gold Outfit:** 1 in 1,562,500
- **Pirate Shop Access:** 1 in 137,500
- **Weekly Vehicle and Decal:** 1 in 7,813
- **Weekly Pickaxe or Back Bling:** 1 in 568
- **Weekly Jam Track:** 1 in 391
- **Weekly Loading Screen:** 1 in 272
- **Gizmo (any):** 1 in 127

During Treasure Hours, the odds improve. IGN lists the boosts as 1.5 times for Pirate Shop Access, 7.5 times for the Weekly Gold Outfit and 10 times for the Weekly Vehicle and Decal. Epic's season preview says Treasure Hours run on Saturdays, and that Mastery Mondays also run through the season. IGN notes that Treasure Hours rates could change in future, with Epic giving a window starting the night of its post as an example.

One small mismatch: IGN's text at one point says "1:137,000," but the table it reproduces says 137,500. We used the table.

## Why did players try to report Epic to the FTC?

Because players could not see the odds. IGN says some fans tried to report Epic to the Federal Trade Commission, and quotes posts calling the missing odds anti-consumer and noting that the game is mostly played by kids. Others wrote that players with thousands of chests opened had found nothing. We have not seen any sign that the FTC has acted, and none of the pages we read say it has.

Some players guessed the real rate was around 1 in 7,000, according to IGN. That would have been about 20 times better than the actual number.

## What does 1 in 137,500 mean in practice?

This part is our own arithmetic, not Epic's or IGN's. If every chest were an independent 1 in 137,500 roll, you would need roughly 95,000 chests to reach even odds of getting the token. Most players will never open anything close to that. Treat the token like a lottery ticket you happen to find, not something to grind for. The cheaper drops, like the 1 in 127 Gizmo or the 1 in 272 loading screen, are the ones a regular player can realistically expect.

## What is coming next in Treasure Hunters?

Per Epic's Oct. 30 season preview, the next Captain Days, when new weapons and Sprites drop on the map, are Nov. 8, 12, 15 and 22. The Item Shop gets Lil Uzi Vert on Nov. 12, Buggy on Nov. 13 and Cap'n Hatsune Miku on Nov. 14. Epic also tells players to keep Saturday, Dec. 5, open for the Chapter 7 end event.

## Our take

This is analysis, not reporting. Publishing the odds was the right call and it came late. Fans were reacting to a lack of information as much as to the number, and the 1 in 137,500 figure suggests the token was always meant to be a rare find. The fix is simple: show drop rates when a season launches, not after a week of backlash. IGN says it is unclear whether Epic will do that next time. We do not know either.

What is still unconfirmed: how many Pirate Shop tokens have been found so far, and whether Epic will change the rates again. Epic has not said.
